We are pleased to announce the signing of virtuoso Jazz trumpeter Matt Shulman to a multiple-album deal with Jaggo Records! He will be the first artist to be released through the Jaggo Jazz imprint.
"We have big plans for Matt," says Jaggo's Co-CEO, Nathaniel Schellin. "Matt has a sound that we're convinced will push Jazz into the 21st century! He's among the absolute best in this new generation of Jazz artists that is sure to make some big waves."
New York-based Shulman was named Jazz Artist of the Year by the 2003 Independent Music Awards, and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2002 as a featured soloist with the New York Pops.
The New York Times has called Shulman "a new voice from Jazz's emerging generation", by Downbeat Magazine as "Zen-like", and by the International Trumpet Guild as "exquisite... on the forefront of Jazz... a pioneer."
While the specifics of his deal with Jaggo Records will not be disclosed, Schellin describes the deal as "a totally new model that allows both the artist and the label to declare an album a true success whether it sells 5,000 copies or 500,000 copies." |
